Vita:

Prof. Dr. Johannes Keogh studierte Pflegewissenschaft an der Free State University in Bloemfontein, Südafrika. Er schloss seine Ausbildung zunächst mit den akademischen Graden B. Soc. Sc. und B. Soc. Sc. (Hons) ab. Anschließend absolvierte er ein Masterstudium in Gemeindepflege an der gleichen Universität und erwarb den Abschluss M. Soc. Sc. (Community Nursing). Die Promotion erfolgte an der Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education, mit dem Thema "A continuing education programme for registered nurses working at mine medical stations".

Prof. Dr. Keogh ist Krankenpfleger, Fachkrankenpfleger für Psychiatrie, Entbindungspfleger, “Community Nurse” und Lehrer für Pflegeberufe in Südafrika. Er arbeitete zunächst in unterschiedlichen Krankenhäusern der Maximalversorgung, hauptsächlich in der Orthopädie und der Entbindungspflege. Später war er dann im Bereich der Gemeindepflege tätig.

In der Lehre war er an verschiedenen Universitäten aktiv, wie etwa an der Universität Fort Hare im südafrikanischen Alice und der Universität Malta.

1996 bekam er eine Vertretungsprofessur für Pflegewissenschaft an der Fachhochschule Fulda, die 1997 in eine ordentliche Professur umgewandelt wurde.

An der Hochschule Fulda unterrichtet Prof. Keogh in folgenden Lehrgebieten:

An der Fachhochschule in Kokkola/Finnland (Central Ostrobothnia University of Applied Sciences) übernimmt er pro Semester die Verantwortung für ein Modul.

Darüber hinaus ist er seit 2003 an der Sommeruniversität in Fulda im Bereich Public Health tätig.

Forschung:

Prof. Keogh forschte im unterschiedlichen Gebiete, wie z.B.:

Seine Forschungsinteressen liegen aber hauptsächlich im Bereich der Primary Health Care, Pädagogik für Pflegeberufe, Public Health Pflege, Geschichte der Pflege und die Professionalisierung der Pflege.

Prof. Keogh ist zuständig für die Auslandskontakte des Pflegestudiengangs im Fachbereich Pflege und Gesundheit.

Seit 2002 ist er beratend tätig im Wissenschaftsrat des Pflegefachbereichs an der Palacky Universität, in Olomouc in der Tschechischen Republik. Diese Tätigkeit bezieht sich auf das Screening und die Annahme von Vorträgen für den im 2-jährigen Rhythmus stattfindenden Kongress des Fachbereichs.

Prof. Keogh veröffentliche in nationalen und internationalen Zeitschriften und tritt häufig bei nationalen und internationalen Kongressen auf.
